The church started in 1955 with just a few believers meeting in a house one street away and by the end of 1957 the building was completed in its first phase. Over the years she has had many shepherds who were faithful to the Lord and the Lord is the reason why it is still here .
Our emphasis is on sound Biblical teaching that stresses accurately understood Biblical doctrine, together with obedience and committment to the local church fellowship as the only means to grow spiritually.
Our preaching of God’s Word is expository for the purposes of declaring Christ to all peoples and our worship is ordered to please God not to make people feel good. Whatever people may feel must be the result of God-centred worship. We also stress discipleship as necessary for service.

Pastor Edward Kanniah has been faithfully serving the congregation at Calvary Baptist Church for the past 17 years. He's most heartfelt concern is that people grow closer to God through the study of the Scriptures.
He is passionate about studying, preaching, and teaching systematically through books of the Bible and thereby teaching the whole counsel of God (Acts 20:27).
